K9APE® Machine Vision Inspection System For Precision Machined Surfaces

K9APE® Machine Vision Inspection Systems are readily adapted for inspection of products comprising precision-machined surfaces - such as calendar rollers. Inspection can occur during or after the manufacturing process.

The image shown below is of a 1-15/32 inch (37 mm) diameter precision ground steel roller having a 20-microinch finish.

The roller was mounted on a K9APE® Machine Vision Inspection System to obtain a 1.92 Mbyte image of the entire 360° circumference. The following image is of a 1-11/16 inch wide (axial) by 7/16 inch high (circumferencial) portion that contains burnishing marks. The image has been pseudo-colored and JPEG-compressed for viewing here.

This image was captured with a DALSA® Camera and an EPIX® PIXCI® Model D Imaging Board. EPIX® XCAP™ Imaging Software was used for image formatting.

Polishing and machining defects such as in this example, are readily detected and measured by our K9APE® Machine Vision Inspection Systems. Images of higher quality can be obtained during manufacture.
