Verizon advises that it can take up to 80-hours before your account is authorized to send e-mail messages.  However, it will receive e-mail messages immediately.

  1. Soft Reset – Soft Reset requires removal of the back of the case.  There is a better technique.  Go to www.palmgear.com to download freeware called Soft Reset 1.2.

  1. The following key codes provide useful diagnostics:

¨      #*#49878#            Diagnostic Tests

¨      #*#377                  Reports Last Fatal Error

  1. Call *228 – Option 1 to reload VERIZON software when a TREO 700p becomes unreliable.  This is like chicken soup - it may not help; but, it wouldn't hurt.  Option 2 updates your long-distance roaming capability.

  1. The Verizon Service Desk Telephone Number for TREO 700p phones is 800 922 0204, Option 3, Option 4, Option 2.

  1. The Maintenance Release (MR) Version 1.10 for VERIZON TREO 700p phones was released on 12 JUL 2007.  This release should be installed for phones having firmware versions below.  Please see http://www.everythingtreo.com/ and http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/treo700pupdate/ for latest bulletins.

  2. If you have BOTH a hands-free kit AND a rooftop antenna for your car, then you may want a DIGITAL ANTENNA PowerMax Cellular Amplifier.  It contains both a receiver pre-amplifier and a transmitter power amplifier.  The power amplifier increases maximum power output from 0.600 watts to 3.0 watts when operating on a 800-894 MHz system and to 2.0 watts when operating on a digital 1900 MHz system.  Additional power may be hardly noticeable in metropolitan areas where cell cites are closely spaced (e.g. less than one mile); but, it does considerably increase the coverage and signal quality of your phone in suburban and rural areas where towers are spaced 5-15 miles apart.  Note: This unit should only be used with a rooftop antenna that is connected directly to your phone.  It is not to be used with either a through-the-glass antenna or an antenna inside the car (e.g. stuck to the inside of the front windshield).

  3. VERIZON TREO 700p phones come with a trial version of POCKET TUNES (www.pocket-tunes.com).  This version can be upgraded for ~$30 to a 'deluxe' edition, which is capable of playing stations listed at www.treobits.com and www.shoutcast.com.  This software can be very useful when traveling and there is a need to receive news and weather information from local stations.

  4. PHONE LABS (www.phonelabs.com) DOCK-N-TALK Model A100 may not work correctly with a VERIZON TREO 700p phone that has been upgraded with Maintenance Release Version 1.10.  If the DOCK-N-TALK unit has a firmware version earlier than Ver. 1.11, it should be upgraded by returning it to PHONE LABS together with its BLUETOOTH unit, which may need to be replaced.

  5. Weak indoor signals can be remedied by installation of a HYCON Dual Band Coverage CAE50 GEMINI repeater available from www.cellantenna.com.  The kit includes outdoor and indoor rooftop antennae.  An installer with rooftop antenna experience is recommended.  Results here are excellent.

  6. The JABRA BT8010 BLUETOOTH Earphone with Digital Signal Processing works very well with a VERIZON TREO 700p phone and outperforms MOTOROLA headphone originally recommended by VERIZON.  A companion JABRA earphone for stereo reception is also available from VERIZON.

  7. Unfortunately, SOFTICK (www.softick.com/bluetooth-audio) Audio Gateway Ver. 1.12 software for streaming audio from POCKET-TUNES to BLUETOOTH stereo headphones does not work reliably and should be avoided until a new version is released.
