by Suzanne L. Epstein, Ph.D.
By A Parent
Portrayed is the title of a
digital image illustrated lecture by Dr. Suzanne L. Epstein demonstrating how
several celebrated European and American artists have portrayed their children during the
past 400 years.
The lecture will highlight the work of such artistically talented mothers as
¨
Elisabeth Vigée-LeBrun
¨
Lilla Cabot Perry
¨
Berthe Morisot
and such artistically talented fathers as
¨
Rembrandt van Rijn
¨
Peter Paul Rubens
¨
Thomas Gainsborough
¨
Pierre Auguste Renoir
It will focus on the many different ways in which
those artists chose to portray their children. It will also demonstrate the extent to
which their portraits of their progeny were influenced by their close personal
relationship to their subjects.
