The Many Fascinating Parts Played By Women In The Arts is a Color Digital Image illustrated lecture by Dr. Suzanne L. Epstein on the many contributions made by women to the creation of important works of art from Antiquity through the 19th century.
Major emphasis is given to woman’s varied and vital role as artists’ model and muse from the Renaissance up to the modern period. The fascinating wealth of saintly and shocking works of art for which women have modeled will be demonstrated by paintings and sculptures of female mythological figures, Old Testament & New Testament heroines, allegorical figures, aristocratic ladies, and moral and immoral women from all levels of society.
The woman as artist is also discussed, as is the importance of women as patrons of the arts.
